Grain Farm Employee
About us… Long Vue Farms is a grain farming and land leasing operation that currently manages approximately 5600 acres of land in Todd, Logan, and Simpson counties in Kentucky and Montgomery and Robertson counties in Tennessee. We produce corn, soybeans, and wheat. We strive to maintain a professional attitude and appearance with our employees and those we lease land from so that all involved have a clear understanding of each other’s expectations and goals. We are currently interested in hiring 2-3 new employees. Below is a detailed description of the job, the requirements, and some of our unique policies.
Job Title: Farm employee, specifically Combine, Sprayer, and/or Grain Cart Operator Job Description: Operate, service, and maintain multiple types of equipment and implements. The employee will receive on the job training, read manuals, and attend classes to educate themselves on all issues dealing with operation and proper maintenance of the equipment they operate. Below is a general list of these items:
- Greenstar-auto steer, yield mapping, & Apex software
- Combine
- Sprayer-100’ Booms
- Planter-16 and 8 Row
- Grain Cart
- Semi truck-grain & water hauling
- Grain Elevator
- General-bush hog, liquid fertilizer applicator, etc.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Basic tractor operation skills
- Ability to operate planter monitors, combine yield monitors, and large equipment
- Prefer Microsoft Excel experience
- Valid driver’s license
Miscellaneous:
- Hours vary but general starting time is 7:00, but will be earlier during busy seasons.
- Pay rates increase when an employee works over 12 hours in a day and for weekends.
- First 90 days is considered a trial period, employee will not receive benefits during this time.
- After 90 days we offer one week of vacation. Vacation time increases with years of employment.
- After 90 days we offer an insurance allowance paid in lieu of group health insurance.
